Virtual Visits

It’s time to create YOUR holistic Wellness Plan…

During the one-hour Virtual Visit, I will discuss your medical history and specific goals, examine your tongue, and ask the classic “Ten Questions” of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

After a full review of your systems & functions–poop, periods, sleep & more, I’ll determine your specific imbalances, aka the root causes of your health conditions. These change throughout your life, and most people have more than one at any given time.

Schedule a New Patient Virtual Visit to start cultivating fertility, naturally.

Natural Modalities

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the most commonly known treatment modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine–a complete system of healthcare practiced for around 2,000 years. By inserting tiny, painless needles at specific acupoints on the meridians that transverse the body, we can subtly redirect the flow of your Blood and Qi.

Modern day-to-day stress tends to stagnate our Qi (energy) and overly tax our Jing (essence), leaving some of our organ systems undernourished and others full of toxic build up. Our reproductive organs are particularly susceptible to imbalances, which can interfere with the ability to get pregnant and to stay pregnant.

Instead of having to go into an office for needling, I teach people how to massage these same points at home, daily, to elicit the changes your body needs. Acupressure is comfortable and easy to learn, and many people feel much more connected to their body when making this self-massage a part of the daily self-care routine.

Herbal Medicine

Traditional herbal formulas have been masterfully crafted, reformulated, and modernized as necessary over the past 2,000 years to best resolve the patterns of imbalance found in our patient populations.

You’re not getting a new-fangled, trendy mega supplement with no long-term studies available from a Doctor of Acupuncture!

If we recommend an herbal formula for you, know that it is specifically suited to address the exact imbalances that we see in YOU, right now. Because your imbalances shift, change, and resolve, your herbal formula will often need to change in response to your progress.

I work only with a few limited herbal companies, who both respect the integrity of the historical ingredients, and also offer full transparency in quality and safety testing of each batch of herbal supplements.

Your recommendation could consist of either tablets or liquid tinctures, and instructions will be provided in each case.

Fun fact– in the Traditional Chinese Medicine herbal collection book, called the “Materia Medica,” you’ll find not only plant materials but some animal products and minerals, too. While most herbal formulas consist primarily of plant material, you’ll also see some ingredients like cicada exoskeletons or ground oyster shells.

Fire Cupping

Another customary treatment modality from Traditional Chinese Medicine is fire cupping, which is much more soothing and relaxing than it sounds.

A flame is briefly introduced into a glass cup, to remove the oxygen and create a vacuum, allowing the cup to naturally suction onto your body. Generally performed on the long meridians of the back of the body to unblock and release Blood Stasis or Qi Stagnation, cupping can also be used in cases of recent respiratory sickness or long-standing phlegm conditions.

Self-cupping at home with silicone cups is another way to integrate ancient therapies into modern life. I teach women how to use cupping at home not only for things like back pain, but as safer options for facial rejuvenation in my “Fertile Living” content.

Moxibustion

One of the oldest therapeutic modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the burning of a dried herb called “Mugwort,” aka “Artemisia” over acupuncture points or body parts.

Its primary functions are to move and warm, so it is particularly helpful in draining the excess Cold-Damp often found in PCOS (those cases marked with abundant cysts and lots of white vaginal discharge).

Like most treatments, moxa is not good for everyone! I do not use this hot, drying therapy on those who have conditions like Kidney Yin Deficiency with Heat.

In practice, moxa is most famous for its use in turning breech babies. Around weeks 35-37, daily application of a burning moxa stick over acupoint UB67 (by the pinkie toe on your foot) has historically been shown to have good results in encouraging baby to go into the correct position–head down.

Food Therapy

A classical saying from Traditional Chinese Medicine is to first try dietary and lifestyle changes, which will fix most health conditions, before moving onto more “heroic measures” like acupuncture and herbal formulas.

Think all nutritious foods are good for everyone? Think again! If you have Spleen Qi Deficiency with Dampness, milk and bananas are on your NO list. If you have Liver Blood Deficiency, cayenne, ginger, and mustard are on YOUR no list.

Many of my fertility patients are Yin and Blood deficient, particularly those with low ovarian reserve, poor egg quality, or those who only bleed for 1-2 days each month. They are often shocked to see milk, cheese, eggs, pork, potato, and wheat on their YES list, but leeks, radishes, and anise are on their NO list.

If you don’t know which foods are helping or harming your imbalances, you don’t have the confidence to make healthy choices that support your goals. Get your lists to become empowered!
